Day 8: Becoming Spirit-First
Scripture: “Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Reflection: As believers, we are called to live spirit-first, allowing our reborn spirit to lead our thoughts, emotions, and actions. This means putting our spirit—the part of us most connected to God—above our soul (mind, will, emotions) and body. By aligning ourselves this way, we stay sensitive to the Spirit’s leading and remain grounded in God’s truth.
Living spirit-first involves daily choices to prioritize prayer, worship, and time in the Word, allowing our inner being to grow stronger in Christ. As our spirit grows, it influences our soul and body, helping us make decisions and respond to life from a place of faith rather than fear or worldly desires. This realignment brings a deeper sense of peace and assurance in God’s plan for our lives.
By putting our spirit first, we learn to live in the rhythm of God’s grace, allowing His Spirit to direct our every step. This way of life keeps us grounded in His promises, equipped to face any challenge with a heart full of faith and a mind at peace.
Prayer: Lord, help me to live spirit-first, allowing my inner being to be guided by Your Spirit above all else. Amen.
