A devotional moment by Chris Garcia
Romans 5:1-5 NKJV - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
It grieves God's heart when we don't believe the truth about Him. It hurts Him. We believe the lie instead. We get crippled by the lie, not realizing we've already been set free. “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,” We have peace with God. It's through Jesus and then it says, “through whom also we have access by faith”. You have access to God. Now you have access into this grace in which we stand. We can rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Now it's through Jesus. It's not through your works. It's not because you're good enough. It's because He's good enough. He paid a horrible price with His own blood. Do you understand that you have access to God now? We have access by faith, by believing. You've got to believe it, though. You've got to believe what He says. He gets grieved when we don't believe what He says. You've got to enter in by believing you have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
“And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations”. You see? We have it so wrong. We think we dictate what God feels about us by our tribulations. We think that God is mad at us or He's trying to destroy us because we're going through tribulation, not realizing that's the wrong mentality to have. You're supposed to glory in tribulations knowing this. Why? Because the tribulation produces something in you. It produces perseverance and perseverance, character and character, hope. You think God's doing something to you when in reality, God is trying to form you. Hope does not disappoint.
