Living Water From the Temple Within

Where there is no water, there is death. Dryness. Pollution. And sadly, even in Jesus’s day, many stayed spiritually dry—not because water wasn’t available, but because their hearts remained hard. The Pharisees and Sadducees, though religious in appearance, became like stinky marshes—stagnant and lifeless.
But Jesus came to change that.
In John 7:37, during a powerful feast where the priests poured out living water from the sanctuary as a symbolic act, Jesus stood up and cried out:
“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.”
What a moment. Right there, in the middle of the ritual, Jesus pointed to Himself and said, I am the real source. He was referencing the prophetic vision of Ezekiel 47, where waters flow from the sanctuary—bringing life, fruit, healing, and abundance.
But here’s the beautiful twist: Jesus is the sanctuary. He is Ezekiel’s temple. When He said, “Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up,” He was speaking of His body. And because of His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension—we now carry that living water within us.
He is in us. We are in Him. And out of our innermost being flows rivers of living water.
If you feel dry or weary today, the invitation still stands:
Come to Him. Drink deeply. Let the water flow again.
